KZ-Gedenkstätte Mühldorfer Hart e.V.
What we stand for:
The camp in Mühldorfer Hart was the largest extension subcamp of the notorious Dachau concentration camp.
At the heart of our association’s commitment is the remembrance of the victims of the Nazi Regime and, most particularly, the thousands who had met their untimely deaths in this subcamp.
- We organize every year on April 28 a Memorial Ceremony at the former bunker site in commemoration of the anniversary of the evacuation of the subcamp in 1945.
- We disseminate information to the public about the site and its history. We also conduct guided tours.
- We undertake action to ensure that the structural remains of the bunker site, the forest camp and the mass graves are and remain worthy places of remembrance and commemoration.
- We work on securing and preserving the accounts of victims and eyewitnesses through contacts and exchanges we have had and continue to have with survivors and their families from Israel, the U.S.A., Hungary, Italy, France and a number of other countries as well as with the local population. It is our aim to keep a European dialogue open on tyranny and Nazism. The current cultural and political developments have posed and continuously pose questions about the present and the future that necessitate clarifying discourse.
- Our association members also receive information on events and symposiums organized by other locally related associations such as the Mühldorf Heimatbund, the Kreismuseum, etc. We also engage in regional exchanges with other memorial site groups associated with the Dachau Foundation.
The articles and bylaws of our association are available only in German and can be found here.
