THE FOREST CAMP

Still visible are the excavations that formed the flooring of the earth hut dwellings at the forest camp, the concrete foundations of the latrines, as well as the foundations of the functional buildings. The foundations of another functional building in the northwest area of the camp are also visible, though this building was never completed.

Accommodations

The prisoners of the Mühldorf camps were crammed into tent-like wooden plywood barracks and into earth huts. It was constantly damp and cold in these dwellings.

The earth huts which were excavated one meter into the ground were built in Forest Camps V/VI in the autumn of 1944. They were intended to serve as winter accommodations for about 20 individuals each. They were however constantly overcrowded. A small brick oven in the center of the hut provided heating only occasionally.
