VICTIMS’ CEMETERY KRAIBURG

There is probably a mass grave in the rear left-hand section of the village cemetery in Jettenbacher Straße. The memorial on the grave bears the inscription: “+ 242 innocent NS victims in eternal memory + April 1945 / humiliated by hatred / ennobled by suffering”. On July 28, 1945, 253 of the 2,249 concentration camp prisoners who had originally been buried in mass graves at Muehldorfer Hart were laid to rest. These prisoners were victims of the Mettenheim subcamp near Muehldorf am Inn who died in the last days of the Second World War in 1945.
